Emergency Plan Development
Introduction
Risk management has a proactive component that seeks to reduce the chance of an accident taking place.
Despite everyone's best efforts problems may still occur and risk management also focuses on minimizing
the consequences of an accident for those involved and the affected organization. There are many steps
that need to be taken and decisions that need to be made during and in the aftermath of a crisis. ASI
can assist your organization in developing an effective Emergency Plan to guide appropriate response to
an accident or other crisis.
Purpose of an Emergency Plan
An Emergency Plan is a set of predetermined steps, intended to guide the response to an accident. This
plan must be pre-approved by the managers and other constituents that will be involved.
The Emergency Plan does the following:
- Assign responsibilities for action.
- Preplans actions to be taken in different potential emergencies.
- Identifies resources for responding to an emergency.
Each accident has unique characteristics, however many elements of the response can be anticipated and optimal strategies for dealing with them developed.
Your Plan
ASI has been involved in the development of dozens of Emergency Plans. In a brief consultation, ASI will assist your staff
in developing an Emergency Plan specific to your organization. The plan will cover the following:
- Specific steps to be taken in different emergency scenarios
- Coordination with emergency responders including search and rescue
- Working with the family and friends of those involved in the emergency
- Dealing with the media and constituencies within your organization
- Guidelines for conducting accident investigations
- Much more
Please contact ASI to discuss your Emergency Plan and how we might be able to work with you.
